Cortina Coupe', Voortrekker Road, 2010
This guy parks his car on a rough drag dominated by scrap metal dealers on the way to my studio, so I see him almost daily. It's fascinating to me how he maintains the paintwork in an environment that is so utterly disinterested in finish and varnish.
Much has been written about cars being private spaces that offer spiritual distance from harrowing surroundings; this applies to the man's 'traveling republic.'
