In 2005 I made a couple of clandestine trips to the town of Horno in Brandenburg, which was being excavated for lignite. Thirty houses were abandoned, and the authorities built a new village for resettlement. Both towns were uninhabited. The gardens going to seed were untamed and produced enough pollen to put a hay fever sufferer in hospital. While snooping around a solid old double-story, I saw this word on a mosquito screen, no wider than a kid's palm.
