This is a photograph of a sex worker's handbag. The blue background was dialed out and replaced with Simone's favourite colour which she chose from a book of colour swatchs.
More often than not photographs are tropes and the vagina/purse version is no exception.
This series derives its power from the profession of the bag owners, sex-workers, and the nuance in the hands and forearms which prise open the containers.
The handbags are supposed to contain secrets, but the bulk of the contents are tools of the trade.
